The Great Lakes Region

The Great Lakes are shown in this image acquired by the MODIS on board the Aqua satellite on May 8, 2006. The Great Lakes are on or near the US/Canada border.

They are the largest group of fresh water lakes in the world and are sometimes referred to as inland seas. West to East, the Great Lakes are Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Ontario.

There are a few red dots on this image, representing burning fires.
