Just north of the Arizona-Utah border, Navajo Mountain overlooks Lake Powell in the Glen Canyon.
On June 12, 2006, the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA's Aqua satellite observed a large fire on the mountain. The location in which the sensor detected actively burning fire is outlined in red. A column of smoke billows north.
