Portugal, Spain & Morocco

Clear skies over Portugal, Spain, and Morocco reveal a landscape of mountains, plateaus, and deserts in shades of brown, red, and green. Set against them is the deep blue of the Mediterranean Sea and western Atlantic Ocean, and the bright whites of clouds and snow. Portugal sits on the western edge of the Iberian Peninsula, which it shares with Spain, to the right. South of them both is Morocco, the northwesternmost country in Africa that shares much of the culture of the two southern European countries. Between the two continents is the Strait of Gibraltar, whose surface waters flow east from the Atlantic into the Mediterranean, but deeper down flow west.
