Steeling the Show

THE sound of steel drums filled the air of a North city as bands from across the region met to put on a vibrant public performance yesterday.
Steel Pandango, the annual meeting of steel drum bands, took place in Gateshead's Performance Square, just in front of the Sage building.
Bands congregated from Haydon Bridge, Seaham, Wooler and Newcastle.
A spokesman for the Sage's SummerTyne festival said: "Our region has an amazing wealth of steel pan talent."
