Frederic Rose as CEO

Paris, 24 July 2008 - The Board of Directors of Thomson (Euronext Paris: 18453; NYSE: TMS) yesterday unanimously approved the appointment of Frederic Rose as the Group's new CEO. He will also join the Board of Directors.

Frederic Rose, 46 and a French/American national, will join the Group on 1 September from Alcatel-Lucent where he was President of that company's Europe, Asia and Africa Region and a member of Alcatel-Lucent's Executive Committee. He has gained extensive international experience during his 15 years with Alcatel-Lucent and has a strong working knowledge of businesses and markets close to those of Thomson.

Commenting on the appointment, Mr. Francois de Carbonnel, Chairman of Thomson, said today:

Prior to joining Thomson, Mr Rose has been President of Alcatel-Lucent's Europe, Asia and Africa Region and a member of Alcatel-Lucent's Executive Committee. Prior to that, he was President of Alcatel-Lucent's Asia Pacific region, Mr. Rose managed a diverse team of 15,000 staff operating across 18 countries and led the region to achieve double-digit growth during his tenure. He also held the position of President of Alcatel Shanghai Bell, Alcatel-Lucent's flagship joint venture in China. Mr. Rose has acquired extensive global experience working in the US, Europe and Asia. During his 15-year career with Alcatel-Lucent, Mr. Rose has established a track record of building winning teams. He is a graduate of the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and the Georgetown University Law Centre and is fluent in English, French and Dutch.
