OUTSTANDING leadership of a Solihull primary school has led to a rapid rise in standards in recent years, inspectors said.
They described St Margaret's Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary in Richmond Road, Olton, Solihull, as a good school with some outstanding features.
Inspectors from education watchdogs Ofsted said pupils' achievement is good and standards are above average.
The 2007 national test results show that standards have risen considerably in recent years.
Ofsted, who visited the 240-pupil school in June, said the outstanding leadership of headteacher Jane Martin, combined with excellent procedures for checking the work of the school, had led to "rapid improvements" in provision in recent years.
At the same time, pupils' personal development and well-being are outstanding, while their "excellent behaviour" is underpinned by outstanding spiritual, moral, cultural and social development.
Inspectors added that pupils' achievement is good and standards are above average, as are the proportion of pupils who attain the higher level in English, maths and science.
Pupils make a good contribution to the school community, for example by organising fund-raising activities for the charities they support, and their good basic skills and outstanding behaviour mean that they are well prepared to take the next stage of their education and future lives.
Teaching is said to be good overall, with teachers making good use of assessment information to pitch work at the correct level for most pupils.
The school also provides outstanding support for pupils with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, creating excellent partnerships with outside agencies and parents.
