Roanoke College Fills Jobs

Roanoke College announced new appointments to three college offices Tuesday.
Michael Hakkenberg was named interim vice president and dean of the college. The position makes him the school's top academic officer.
Hakkenberg, a history professor, will likely fill the post for the coming school year while the college searches for a permanent replacement for John Day. Day has joined John Carroll University in Cleveland.
Juliet Lowery was appointed director of multicultural affairs. She served as interim director for the past year.
The office fosters diversity on campus and arranges multicultural speaking events. Students from 26 countries attend Roanoke College, according to the school.
Jack Steehler will fill a new position: director of student/ faculty research. The chemistry professor will administer student research programs, which include the college's Summer Scholars and undergraduate research assistant programs.
