Israeli authorities confirmed they arrested six people in an alleged al-Qaida plot to kill U.S. President George Bush during his visit to Israel last January.
Haaretz reported the suspects were all Arabs who lived inside Israel and had links to al-Qaida.
The alleged plot involved the January visit by the U.S. president to the Middle East and appeared to involve the notion of shooting down his helicopter.
The indictment said the suspects had a cell phone photo of the chopper's landing pad, and the suspect had also been in Internet contact with al-Qaida about establishing a cell inside Israel.
Ynetnews said two of the suspects were identified as Jerusalem University students while IsraelNN.com said all six attended the same East Jerusalem mosque.
The suspects were rounded up earlier this month and in June in the culmination of an investigation that IsraelNN said apparently originated with a tip from a source to the U.S. Secret Service.
