ROME (Reuters) - British police will head to Rome on Tuesday to question a man they believe was one of the bombers involved in a July 21 attack on London, a judicial source in Italy said on Friday.
A source close to the case said he believed questioning of Hamdi Issac, also known as Osman Hussein, would be carried out on Aug. 9 in the presence of an Italian judge at the Rome jail where the suspect is being held.
"I think it will happen at the Regina Coeli prison, where he is," the source said.
Issac, according to his lawyer, has admitted to taking part in the attempted bombings, but says he did not intend to kill. No one was killed in the attacks.
He has indicated he will fight a British extradition request.
An Italian court will hold an extradition hearing in the case on Aug. 17, with a verdict expected the same day.
The British embassy said if all appeals were lodged, and all extensions taken, the extradition process should be completed by early December.
