Red Sox Jersey Dug Up at Yankees' Site

Workers at the site of the future Yankee Stadium dug up an arch-rival Boston Red Sox jersey that had been buried by a prankster, baseball officials said Sunday.
Jackhammers were needed to get at the jersey, which bore the name and number of Sox slugger David Ortiz and was buried in concrete in a service corridor, mlb.com reported.
The New York Post reported the jersey was placed at the site by Gino Castignoli, 46, of the Bronx, a Red Sox fan who was on a construction crew at the stadium for a day last summer. Two other workers recently told a construction boss they recalled that Castignoli had buried the jersey.
Randy Levine, the Yankees president, and Lonn Trost, chief operating officer, were at the site Sunday when the jersey was displayed for the news media. Apparently, workers had actually unearthed the shirt Saturday.
The Post had first reported on the buried jersey Friday. The Yankees initially denied it was at the stadium site.
