NEW YORK (Reuters) - Angel Rocha, a minor league pitcher with the Arizona Diamondbacks, was suspended for 100 games on Tuesday for violating the Minor League drug prevention and treatment program.
The 100-game ban is the largest handed out for a positive test under baseball's beefed up drug testing program.
No other details of the suspension were announced on MLB.com but penalties for a first positive test are 50 games and rise to 100 for a second violation.
Four other minor league players received 50 game suspensions; Anaheim Angels Karl Gelinas, New York Mets Jorge Reyes, St. Louis Cardinals Yonathan Sivira and San Diego Padres Matthew Varner.
